St Bess provides backdrop for Jah Lex video

Reggae artiste Jah Lex recently released the video for his new single, titled Stronger.

The video was filmed in various locations across Jamaica ,including Kingston, Montego Bay, and the central parish of St Elizabeth.

“I have to give thanks to Izzo from Canada and Andre McKay from Kingston, they both did an excellent job shooting, directing and editing this video,” said Jah Lex.

Stronger will be one of the featured songs on the Canadian deejay’s sophomore album of the same name, which is slated to be released later this year.

The album will also feature collaborations with various artistes, including Clarendon-born Suga Roy.

“My album is almost completed, but I haven’t set a release date for it as yet. I’m going to release a couple more singles and videos before I put it out,” said the artiste.

In June, he will head to Africa where is he is booked to perform in countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa.

“This will be my second trip to Africa, and I am looking forward to it. Last year I performed at the Reggae on the Nile Festival in Uganda, it was a great experience,” he said.

MUSICAL BEGINNINGS

Jah Lex was born in Montreal, Canada, and his love for music began from an early age. During his high-school years, he studied African and Latin percussions; he also learned to play the trumpet and the guitar.

After visiting Jamaica in 2004, he launched his first reggae band, Raw Sugar, in Montreal the following year. A year after that, he put on the first staging of his annual Reggae Bash Festival in Quebec.

Jah Lex launched his recording career in 2014 with a song titled Jamaica on the Rising Sun label.
