Top trainer Gary Subratie has set his sights on a sweep of the 46th running of the 1000 and 2000 Guineas races at Caymanas Park this weekend.

Subratie will be hoping to achieve this feat for the second time in his career, having done so in 2011 with NIPAL and BIG MAN BOYU.

The veteran trainer has saddled the anti-post favourites WOW WOW, to be ridden by Robert Halladeen, and NISTER, with Dane Nelson in the saddle, in Sunday's 2000 Guineas, which will be contested over eight furlongs.

OLD WARF, to be ridden by Ameth Robles, and KD ROCKEY, at the mount of Aaron Charite, and RUM WITH ME, with Paul Francis in the saddle, are the other horses that Subratie has entered in the 2000 Guineas.

The Subratie-trained ANOTHER AFFAIR, to be ridden by Halladeen, is installed as the second favourite behind ABOVE AND BEYOND in the 1000 Guineas for the fillies and mares on Saturday. He has saddled BASILICUS in the race, to be ridden by Paul Francis.

"I definitely really have good chances in both of them and that is my aim this weekend," said Subratie. "I have done this before, because I have won two Guineas in one day," he said.

"Basically, I don't see them beating any of my horses, but especially the two (WOW WOW) and (NIPSTER), who have really good chances of winning," Subratie said.

GOOD COMPETITION

He added that all other horses in the 2000 Guineas are also well conditioned and they are coming to put on a good showing on Sunday.

"The main danger would be MAHOGANY, but there are other horses there. DOUBLE CROWN ran a big race the other day, and I think he can run a good race this time as well," Subratie said.

He underlined that WOW WOW, who has recorded ten straight victories, including impressive victory on July 5 over six and half furlongs, is ready and raring to go.

"WOW WOW condition is great and he is training well, but the track was really bad on Monday, so he could not get a faster workout, and so we just have to work with that," Subratie stated.

"NIPSTER ran a brilliant race the last time and I have seen big improvements in him, and I expect a really big run out of him," Subratie said.

He stated that 1000 Guineas contender ANOTHER AFFAIR has been improving rapidly and therefore, it is going to be very difficult for anyone to beat her on Sunday.

"ANOTHER AFFAIR has come on really nice at the right time, and so I am feeling really good about the fillies Guineas," said Subratie. "She has been training well and she is on the improve, and so I know that she is going to run a big race," he said.
